500 Emirati Women Pass on Handicrafts Skills to Generations

On the occasion of International Craft Day, which falls on the 15th of October each year, the Director of NAMA Women Advancement Establishment revealed that under the umbrella of the Irthi Contemporary Crafts Council, more than 500 female artisans were able to master handicraft practices handed down through generations and improve their handicraft skills.

Irthi Contemporary Crafts Council has launched 13 groups of traditional crafts that embody the cultural identity and heritage of the United Arab Emirates. By re-imagining Emirati crafts with a contemporary vision, Irthi succeeded in building a sustainable future for female artisans and their families through this craft heritage.
