With one in eight women likely to contract breast cancer during their lifetime, October is a special month to raise awareness about the issue with affordable screenings at a number of locations along with various ways on how you can raise awareness about the cause.

Without limiting awareness for the cause to just October, this month does symbolize hope and is a time to come together to highlight the importance of screening and early detection. Whether an online fashion boutique or a café, proceeds from each of the following initiative are mainly going towards the Al Jalila Foundation in partnership with Brest Friends which is a UAE forerunner in breast cancer awareness, treatment and local research. 

Sugargram - Cupcakes for a cure 

Whether you’re indulging in a box of sweets or making someone’s day better, these delectable bites of heaven will support a charity that invests in support and research for breast cancer. During the whole of October, those who purchase the Breast Cancer Awareness box will receive an assortment of 5 delicious bite size cupcakes priced at Dhs30 filled with an assortment of flavors with Dhs5 from each box being donated to the Al Jalila Foundation.

Couqley - #PINKtober with limited-edition dessert 

The charming French Bistro & Bar has created a limited-edition dome-shaped Framboise-speculoos with all proceeds from the dessert donated to Al Jalila Foundation to support breast cancer research throughout the month of October. This home-grown hub will have a class special pink-themed class this month dedicated to raise awareness for Breast Cancer. You can refuel with the limited edition ‘Pink shake’ after your workout.  The class will be priced at Dhs120 on 18 October from 5:30 to 6:50 at BARE DXB in Business Bay.

Washmen - Unload to contribute 

This mobile based laundry and dry-cleaning service in the UAE has launched a Pink Homecare bag for Dhs65, where customers can fill as many as 12 items that they wish to get washed and it can include bed sheets, bed covers, duvets, duvet covers, pillows, pillow cases, blankets, towels, bathrobes, tablecloths, and table mats. 5% of all homecare bag proceeds will go straight to Al Jalila Foundation to support breast cancer research and treatment in the UAE.

Every time you purchase anything strawberry from the Häagen-Dazs store, dine-in, takeaway or delivery, 25% will be donated to Al Jalila Foundation for cancer research. Having joined forces with Gargash hospital, all female customers at its cafés will receive free consultations and discount vouchers for treatments at any Häagen-Dazs café in the UAE. The voucher will include, a complimentary consultation with pap smear, a complimentary consultation with breast examination, Mammography and breast ultrasound package for Dhs299 and an automated breast ultrasound system package for Dhs499.
