Bahrain's Lower Criminal Court sentenced a man to one year of prison and a fine of BD 21,000 for disposing of waste in Bahrain's sea, which was in violation of Bahrain's Environmental Protection Law No. 7/2022.

The Supreme Council of Environment informed the Public Prosecution that during their inspection visits to the western border sea, the Council had discovered that the accused had dumped waste into the water body including large quantities of wood, nylon, and construction waste.
Legal action was taken against the accused who was advised to stop dumping waste in the sea. A notice was served, after which the Public Prosecution started an investigation and handed in the suspect to the Lower Criminal Court, where he was tried and penalized accordingly.
