Asia’s premier national football team competition, which was supposed to take place in China in the summer of 2023, was moved to Qatar and will take place from January 12th to February 10th, 2024.
The AFC and LOC designated eight stadiums to host the games, six of which were among the stadiums that host the FIFA Qatar 2022 World Cup.
The eight stadiums chosen are Al Janoub Stadium, Al Bayt Stadium, Ahmed Bin Ali Stadium, Al Thumama Stadium, Education City Stadium, Khalifa International Stadium, Jassim bin Hamad Stadium, and Abdullah bin Khalifa Stadium.

“We know that the Local Organizing Committee and the Qatar Football Association will stage a true spectacle never before experienced in Asian football history,” said AFC President Shaikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa.
The AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023 draw ceremony will be held at the Katara Opera House on May 11th, where all 24 participating national teams will know their path to gold.
In October 2022, Asia’s football governing body announced that Qatar will host the 2023 Asian Cup after China pulled out due to its zero-Covid-19 policy. This will be the third time that Qatar hosts the AFC Asian Cup after having hosted the 1988 and 2011 editions.
Qatar are the current title holders after winning the Asian Cup for the first time in 2019 after beating Japan 3-1 in the final.
The country is no stranger to hosting global sporting events having successfully organized the 2022 FIFA World Cup in November and December of 2022.
