During a government media briefing on Tuesday, Dr. Al Hosani, the health sector's spokesperson, said that The Al Hosn app has been updated to become the UAE's national COVID-19 vaccine electronic registry.

Al Hosani clarified that the data available on the app is considered as certified official document.

She also highlighted that the new variants tend to spread faster and are more infectious, but they don't appear to be causing a more serious disease or a higher mortality rate.

The Ministry of Health urged all UAE residents aged 16 and over can to book their appointments for free COVID-19 vaccinations at any of the 205 designated vaccination centres.

However, residents should still book appointments prior visiting a vaccination centre unless they are from the vulnerable categories who can get the vaccine on a walk-in basis.

The UAE has to date administered over 7 million doses of the Covid-19 vaccine, at a net distribution rate of 72.61 doses per 100 people.
