The Bahrain national football team secured a thrilling 3-2 victory against Saudi Arabia in their opening match of Gulf Cup 26, held at Jaber Al Ahmed International Stadium in Kuwait City. The highly anticipated Group B clash delivered non-stop action, leaving fans on the edge of their seats.

Bahrain’s Strong Start
According to the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), Bahrain took an early lead in the 19th minute when Mahdi Abduljabbar capitalized on a corner kick delivered by Mahdi Humaidan. Humaidan doubled the advantage with a superb goal in the 38th minute, sending Bahrain into halftime with a commanding 2-0 lead.
Saudi Arabia’s Fightback
The second half saw Saudi Arabia come alive. Musab Al Juwayr narrowed the margin with a well-placed shot in the 73rd minute. However, Bahrain responded quickly as Mohamed Marhoon found the back of the net just three minutes later, restoring Bahrain’s two-goal lead.
Saudi Arabia managed to close the gap again in the 84th minute when Saleh Al Shehri converted a penalty following a handball by Bahraini defender Amine Benadi. Despite intense pressure from Saudi Arabia in the final moments, Bahrain’s defense, led by goalkeeper Ebrahim Lutfulla, held firm to seal the win.

Other Group B Action
Defending champions Iraq also made a strong start, defeating Yemen 1-0 in their opening match. Ayman Hussein’s brilliant header from an Amjad Attwan cross in the 64th minute secured Iraq the victory.

Bahrain will face Iraq in their next Group B match today at 8:30 pm, while Saudi Arabia will look to bounce back against Yemen.
