A Surge in Hotel Capacity

Minister Al Sairafi announced that this expansion will add over 3,000 new hotel rooms, solidifying Bahrain's position as a leading regional tourism hub. This initiative aligns with Bahrain’s development goals under the guidance of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.

Meeting Diverse Traveler Needs

The minister emphasized that this growth in hotel capacity will further enhance Bahrain’s status as a top tourism destination. With a favorable business environment, investment incentives, and supportive measures, Bahrain has successfully attracted high-standard hotel projects. This expansion is expected to boost tourism revenues, create hospitality jobs, and support small and medium enterprises through partnerships with local suppliers and contractors.

Improving Infrastructure for Major Events

The new hotels will enhance Bahrain’s tourism infrastructure, services, and facilities to meet the growing demand from visitors, especially for major international events and conferences. Minister Al Sairafi reiterated Bahrain’s commitment to diversifying its hotel options, catering to families, individuals, groups, and business travelers alike.

These new hotels promise a variety of experiences, ranging from luxury and heritage to adventure and beach stays, supporting both leisure and business tourism, including MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) activities.

Upcoming Openings

Between 2024 and 2026, a total of 16 hotels will open in Bahrain. In 2024 alone, the Kingdom is set to welcome several new four-star and five-star hotels to its tourism sector, with an additional 12 hotels scheduled to debut by 2026.

A Commitment to Tourism Growth

The minister highlighted that this growth in hospitality reflects the efforts of the Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority (BTEA) and the private sector in enhancing Bahrain’s tourism landscape and visitor experience. Tourism is a key pillar of Bahrain’s Economic Vision 2030, contributing significantly to the GDP and reinforcing the Kingdom’s role as a leading tourism destination in the region.

Al Sairafi noted that Bahrain offers a blend of Arabian hospitality, rich cultural heritage, and modern entertainment, ensuring every visit is memorable. With these exciting developments on the horizon, Bahrain is poised to attract more visitors and create lasting experiences for all who come to explore this vibrant destination.
