The new regulations are aimed at tackling the rising costs of hiring domestic workers in Bahrain and rectifying existing legislation that did not implement a cap on fees for hiring domestic workers.

The approved amendments have tasked the Labor Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) with establishing the new fees for domestic worker recruitment agencies.

The task will include the authority consulting relevant stakeholders before implementing the new fees for hiring domestic workers.

The new fees for hiring domestic hires will be tailored to each nationality's specific criteria.

The new regulations will stop recruitment agencies from exceeding stipulated fees, ensuring fairness to families and domestic workers.

The new regulations are also implemented to stop agencies from demanding extra charges other than the official fees for hiring these workers.

In the Shura Council, the new amendments received 29 votes in favor, none against, and two abstentions.
