Bahrain International Airport wins Skytrax 5-star rating for 2nd year
Skytrax, the global benchmark of airport and airline standards around the world gave a 5-star rating to Bahrain International Airport (BIA) for the second consecutive year as an acknowledgement for the high standards of its facilities and services, which is a prestigious mark of quality achievement awarded by Skytrax for an airport.
Based on a Bahrain News Agency (BNA) report, Skytrax declared the ranking after an assessment carried out in November of 2022 that comprised of various standards, including direct services for departures, arrivals, diverted flights, airport facilities and customer services, security, immigration, and retail, along with food and beverage facilities.

Gulf Air Group Board of Directors Chairman Zayed R. Al Zayani stated that the award was a recognition for the airport’s sustained high standards of facilities and services, which are in alignment with the global top standards.
He also added in a statement, "this global achievement by BIA owes much to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa’s support for the aviation sector and the backing of the government, headed by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. The aviation sector is a pillar of the Kingdom’s economic growth and development."
BAC Chief Executive Officer Mohamed Yousif Al Binfalah stated: “This milestone achievement would not have been possible without the dedication of our Customer Experience team, who played a crucial role coordinating a range of initiatives to elevate passengers’ journeys, and the valued support of our partners at the airport in helping to maintain the quality of our services.”
According to Skytrax statement in its report, the planning of the terminal makes the movement for all travelling procedures fast, effortless, and comfortable. The natural lighting that flickers through the airport, the interior design, the ceiling layout, along with the artwork laid out throughout the building, add to its atmosphere.
Skytrax stated that the airport is distinguished for the vast spread of seating areas spread in all its spaces, including departure gates as well as waiting areas. Seats are designed based on top-notch requirements, while considering the different demands of travelers, including individuals with mobility restrictions.
