Bahrain climbs to 59th place in the latest Henley Passport Index, marking a significant improvement from its previous 61st position. The Kingdom's remarkable progress is evident, as it has risen 10 positions since 2021 when it ranked 69th.

Bahraini citizens enjoy visa-free access or visas-on-arrival to an impressive 88 destinations worldwide, surpassing both Oman and Saudi Arabia in the Henley Passport Index. The GCC countries, including Bahrain, have displayed higher-than-average shifts towards increased openness.
In the Gulf states, the UAE passport holds the highest ranking at 12th position, granting its citizens visa-free access to 179 countries globally. Qatar follows closely in 52nd place, providing its citizens with access to 103 countries, while Kuwait ranks 54th, offering visa-free or visa-on-arrival access to 99 countries.

Dr. Christian H. Kaelin, Chairman of Henley & Partners and the inventor of the passport index concept, said, "The UAE has added an impressive 107 destinations to its visa-free score since 2013, resulting in a massive leap of 44 places in the ranking over the past 10 years from 56th to 12th position."
The Henley Passport Index is the most credible passport index, with an extensive 18-year historical data record. It evaluates and ranks passports based on the number of destinations their holders can visit without requiring a prior visa.
The index and its contests are based on data provided by the International Air Transport Authority (IATA), supplemented, enhanced, and updated using extensive in-house research. and open-source data.
