The Kingdom of Bahrain is dialing up its expat game. A new website and hotline have officially launched to make the Golden Residency Programme more accessible than ever.

Designed to attract top-tier talent, investors, and long-time residents, the initiative now offers a one-stop-shop at www.goldenresidency.gov.bh and a dedicated hotline at +973 17484000.

First introduced in 2022 under Bahrain’s Economic Recovery Plan, the Golden Residency Programme grants permanent residency to eligible individuals and their families. Whether you’re a seasoned investor, a creative pro, an athlete, or a long-time employee, there could be a golden ticket waiting with your name on it.

Noor bint Ali Alkhulaif, Bahrain’s Minister of Sustainable Development and Chief Executive of the Economic Development Board, spotlighted the programme’s role in building a “thriving ecosystem for global talent and investors.” She noted that the new tools will boost transparency, streamline applications, and help people explore their eligibility with ease.

Backing that up, Shaikh Hisham bin Abdulrahman Al Khalifa, Undersecretary at the Ministry of Interior for Nationality, Passports, and Residence Affairs (NPRA), called the rollout a “qualitative step” forward in enhancing residency services and promoting Bahrain as a lifestyle and business destination.

Who Qualifies for Bahrain's Golden Residency?

Here’s the lowdown:

  • Employees who’ve worked in Bahrain for at least 5 years with a monthly income of BHD 2,000+ (USD 5,306)

  • Property owners who purchased real estate in Bahrain valued at BHD 200,000+ (USD 530,555)

  • Retirees with 15+ years of work experience in Bahrain and a monthly pension of BHD 2,000+

  • Non-resident retirees earning pensions over BHD 4,000 (USD 10,624)

  • Entrepreneurs & skilled professionals contributing significantly to Bahrain’s economy or society

Applications can be submitted via Bahrain’s official eGovernment portal, with a support team on standby to guide applicants through the process and assist Golden Residency holders with post-approval integration.
