The luxury fashion house and its parent company, Capri, shared the news on Thursday, Mar. 13. Dario Vitale will be taking her place as chief creative officer, whose debut collection will be the first collection to not be overseen by either Gianni or Donatella Versace.
The decision ends the Versace family's reign at Versace, however, Donatella will continue as the brand's chief ambassador.
Before Versace, Vitale worked with Miu Miu until January this year; he had joined the brand in 2010 and worked up the ladder to become design director of ready-to-wear and head of image.
The news of Vitale coming to Versace follows reports of Prada Group interested in buying the luxury fashion brand from Capri Holdings in a $1.5 billion deal.
