First Bahraini Satellite to be Named Al Munther

National Security Advisor, Royal Guard Commander and the Secretary General of the Supreme Defence Council His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa announced on Sunday that the first completely Bahraini satellite will be called Al Munther.

H.H. Shaikh Nasser also revealed the Bahraini space mission logo, which integrated the vision of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, and Prime Minister.
Al Munther's construction is currently underway in Bahrain and it is being done by a completely Bahraini team, so 35% of the project has been completed. This project follows the success of the launch of the first satellite Light 1, and this project will advance the national capacity of designing, constructing, testing, and operating satellites.
Al Munther will provide space data on Bahrain, which will be analysed using a line-up of Bahraini innovations that will part of the satellite's load. Furthermore, Al Munther will capture pictures of Bahrain and its regional waters and it will collect data that will be input into various sectors.
Shaikh Nasser praised the efforts of the National Space Science Agency (NSSA) and the contributions of the Bahrain Space Team for the project, which will advance the Kingdom's position in the global space sector.
