'Four Daughters' and 'Mother of All Lies' Shortlisted for Oscars
The Tunisian documentary 'Four Daughters' and the Moroccan documentary 'Mother of All Lies' are shortlisted for the Oscars 2024.
The Academy of Picture Arts and Sciences announced the shortlists for 10 categories on Thursday, Dec. 22.
The winner of the 'Best Documentary' at the Cannes Film Festival, the Tunisian documentary 'Four Daughters' was shortlisted for the documentary and international feature categories.
Moroccon documentary 'Mother of All Lies' which also won the 'Un Certain Regard-Best Director' award at the Cannes Film Festival, was also shortlisted in the international feature category.
'Four Daughters'
'Four Daughters' is a story about a mother who struggles to cope after the disappearance of her two eldest daughters because of the radicalisation by ISIS.
The film features Hend Sabry, Eya Chikhaoui, and Tayssir Chikhaoui.
The film is directed and written by Kaouther Ben Hania.
'Four Daughters' was produced in Tunisia, Saudi Arabia, France, and Germany.
In addition to the Cannes Film Festival, the film was also featured at the Toronto International Film Festival.
The film has won nine awards so far.
'Mother of All Lies'
This documentary features the director and writer Asma ElMoudir's journey as she uncovers her family history.
'Mother of All Lies' was produced in Morocco, Egypt, Qatar and Saudi Arabia.

This documentary has also won nine awards.
The nominations for Oscars 2024 will be revealed on Jan. 23, 2024.
