Indian Paralympian Becomes Viral at the Paris Paralympics

After becoming a social media sensation, Sheetal Devi secured a bronze medal at the Paralympics on Monday.

Indian Paralympian archer Sheetal Devi became a social media sensation after participating in the 2024 Paris Paralympics.

In the first end of the Women's Individual Compound Open 1/8 Elimination match on Saturday, Aug. 31, Devi was able to get two 10s and a nine, making a total of 29, which brought her into the lead.
Although she scored another 10 in the second end, her second attempt only got her a seven. While Zuniga got 27 in the second end, Devi was able to get only 26.
After the third end, the Indian and Chilean archers were tied at 82. In the fourth end, the archers tied yet again at 111.
However, Devi lost the chance to make it to the quarter-finals to Chilean archer Mariana Zuniga with a score of 138-137.
Despite missing her chance, Devi still became an internet sensation when she scored a perfect 10. Devi had won a silver medal in the 2023 world championships and she is the only armless archer at this year's Paralympics in Paris.
However, in a twist of fate, Devi was able to secure a bronze medal with Rakesh Kumar at the mixed compound archery event on Monday, Sep. 2. The duo beat Italy's Eleonara Sarti and Matteo Bonacina with a score of 156-155. Devi has become a Paralympic medalist at just 17!
