The King of the United Kingdom Charles III delivered his opening address at COP28 in the UAE on Friday, Dec. 1.
This opening address was the monarch's first climate change speech since ascending the throne.
King Charles thanked UAE's President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan for his invitation.
UK's monarch shed light on how countries around the world are far off track when it comes to achieving the goals for limiting the disastrous effects of climate change.
The monarch said, "Records are now being broken so often that we are perhaps becoming immune to what they are really telling us."
King Charles also said, "I pray with all my heart that COP28 will be another critical turning point towards genuine transformational action."
He added, "We are seeing alarming tipping points being reached."
The monarch also spoke about involving multilateral organizations and the private sector in action against climate change.
King Charles explained the importance of speeding up the process of innovation in renewable energy.
The devastating natural disasters resulting from climate change in India, Pakistan, the US, Greece, and other countries were also part of the monarch's speech.
King Charles shed light on the importance of climate action by saying, "Unless we rapidly repair and restore nature's unique economy... which is our ultimate sustainer, our own economy and survivability will be imperilled."
