Korean Air will stop serving instant cup noodles to economy-class passengers from Thursday, Aug. 15.
The airline explained that cup noodles caused frequent burn incidents because of turbulence, narrow aisles, and close seating.
First-class and business-class passengers will still be served cup noodles.
The airline also said that turbulence incidents have increased since 2019, which has led to an increase in burn incidents in economy class because of the crowded seating arrangement.
Therefore, the airline will stop serving these noodles in economy class to ensure the safety of passengers.
Korean Air offered free cup noodles on longer routes, but these will be replaced by sandwiches, corn dogs, pizza, and "Hot Pockets".
Netizens have had mixed reactions to the news. One netizen wrote, "Cup noodles would be a great in-flight meal compared to some of the crap they sell."
While another netizen commented, "Yeah that is good. Instant noodles are not healthy."
