Middle Eastern Films Featuring at the Venice Film Festival

Cinephiles will be happy to know that various Middle Eastern films will be screened at the Venice Film Festival this year, which will run from Wednesday, Aug. 28 to Saturday, Sep. 7.

The Tunisian film 'Aicha' by the filmmaker Mehdi Barsaoui will be screened in the Horizons category. 

The Egyptian film 'Seeking Haven for Mr. Rambo' will be screened in the Horizons Extra category at the film festival. It is the first Egyptian film to be screened at the film festival in 12 years. 

This Egyptian film is directed by Khaled Mansour and written by Mansour and Mohamed El-Hosseiny, featuring Essam Omar, Rakeen Saad and Sama Ibrahim.

The film is about a man in his thirties who confronts his past fears while journeying to search for his dog Rambo.

An Iranian film will also be screened in the festival's Horizons Extra category, which is 'Shahed' by Iranian director Nader Saeivar. The film features Maryam Bobani, Nader Naderpour, and Hana Kamkar.

The Lebanese documentary 'Wa Ada Maroun Ila Beirut' (Maroun Returns to Beirut) will be screened in the Venice Classics – Documentaries about Film category. The film was directed by Feyrouz Serhal.

Another documentary to be screened at the festival is 'Israel Palestine on Swedish TV 1958 – 1989' by Swedish filmmaker Goran Hugo Olsson.

The Venice Film Festival will be hosted at Lido de Venezia in Venice, Italy.
