A Commitment to Digital Transformation

The launch of this online service is part of Bahrain’s ongoing digital transformation efforts, as outlined by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister. Mohammed Ali Al Qaed, CEO of the iGA, emphasized that the service is designed to enhance the quality and accessibility of government services for all Bahraini citizens. "Our goal is to make services more user-friendly, regardless of where citizens are located," he said.

The development of this electronic birth registration system continues to be a priority under the guidance of the Ministerial Committee for Information and Communications Technology, chaired by His Excellency Lieutenant-General Sheikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Minister of Interior.

Simplified Process for Citizens Abroad

According to Dr. Issa Nasser Al Nuaimi, Undersecretary for Consular and Administrative Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the service represents a significant milestone in Bahrain's efforts to enhance consular services. "This initiative helps our citizens complete vital tasks like obtaining a birth certificate from anywhere in the world, ensuring efficiency and convenience," Dr. Al Nuaimi said.

He also noted that the Ministry aims to set global standards for consular services, further strengthening Bahrain’s leadership in digital transformation and reinforcing citizen trust in government services.

How the Service Works

To apply for a birth certificate, parents must notify the nearest Bahraini embassy or consulate of the birth and provide the hospital's notification. Using Bahrain’s advanced eKey system, parents can access the National Portal, enter the birth notification number, the newborn’s personal number, and other required details to complete the process.

This new online service is part of a broader suite of digital solutions offered by the Bahraini government. It includes reissuance for lost or damaged certificates, amendments through court orders, and managing prior applications.

A Step Toward Excellence

This online birth certificate service is a testament to Bahrain’s forward-thinking approach to public service. By simplifying key procedures, the country reaffirms its commitment to improving the quality of life for its citizens at home and abroad. Bahrain continues to lead in digital government services, demonstrating its dedication to providing accessible, efficient solutions for its global community.
