The Palestinian film “To a Land Unknown” received a nine-minute standing ovation after its premiere at the Directors' Fortnight in Cannes, France.

The Doha Film Institute's (DFI) grant supported the film. Palestinian-Danish filmmaker Mahdi Fleifel directs the film which is about a Palestinian refugee in Athens, Greece who gets ripped off by a smuggler and sets out for revenge.

Not only did the cast receive a standing ovation, but the crowd at the theatre also chanted 'Free, Free Palestine!" and other slogans to show support for Palestine.

In the above video, two individuals can be seen in the background waving Palestinian flags to emphasize the pro-Palestinian stance at the premiere.

After Hollywood star Cate Blanchett represented Palestine on the Cannes red carpet recently, the premiere of 'To the Land Unknown' continued to show support for Palestine at the film festival.
