QIB and Visa Achieve New World Record for Largest Soccer Ball Mosaic
At the recently opened Arena in Doha Festival City, Qatar Islamic Bank (QIB), the country's top digital bank, broke a new world record by creating the largest soccer ball mosaic in the shape of Qatar's flag.
In November 2022, QIB celebrated the legacy of Qatar by breaking a new Guinness World Records™ record. The largest soccer ball mosaic (flag) in the world was put up by members, friends, and partners of QIB to commemorate Doha Festival City events as well as Qatar's biggest sporting event.

More than 6,000 maroon and white soccer balls were used to create the banner, which is 11 meters long and 28 meters broad and represents the colors of the Qatari flag, a source of great pride and national identity for the country and its people. Guinness World Records representatives were at Doha Festival City to examine the efforts and approve the record.
Taking the lead in bringing people together to join in the passion and excitement of this national festival, QIB has been at the forefront of honoring the nation's historic athletic event. The Bank has helped to make this celebration even more memorable for its clients by introducing a range of events, special goods, and services, in addition to providing match tickets and a wide range of prize packages.
In addition, as interest in football grows, QIB announced the opening of an elegant and luxurious lounge for its visitors at the Doha Festival City Arena, providing them with an exceptional and premium match-viewing experience during the tournament. The QIB lounge, which is located outside of the Luxury Area and will be open every day of the tournament (from 20 November to 18 December), will be the perfect location for enthusiastic football fans to unleash the energy of the game outside of the stadiums. Outside the exclusive lounge, three mega-screens will be set up so that visitors can watch the games, enjoy a specially curated variety of drinks, and unwind during halftime. Only QIB Visa cardholders who have received an invitation may enter the lounge.
Mashaal Abdulaziz Al-Derham, Assistant General Manager, Head of Corporate Communications & Quality Assurance at QIB, stated: "We are excited to join the citizens of Qatar and tourists from all over the world in celebrating the greatest sporting event, proudly hosted for the first time in the Middle East and the Arab World. The world record is a project by our bank that unites fans and cultures from all over the world to celebrate this historic accomplishment for the people of Qatar and the region. We are honored to welcome our guests to the lounge to enjoy the largest soccer ball mosaic (flag) and an extraordinary, thrilling sporting experience in collaboration with Visa and the Doha Festival City."
The country manager for Visa in Qatar, Dr. Sudheer Nair, stated: "We are thrilled to be partnering with QIB to make history and celebrate this wonderful day for Qatar. Because of the collaboration between Doha Festival City and QIB, our cardholders will have a special place to immerse themselves in the football fever at the QIB lounge. By assisting the QIB, we are enhancing the sense of national identity and honoring Qatar."
