Celebration and Honors
Before the world premiere of Yasir Alyasiri's Saudi fantasy romance, 'HWJN,' the Red Sea International Film Festival witnessed a ceremony featuring local music performances by an 18-member dance ensemble. The evening commenced with a showcase similar to European festivals like Karlovy Vary, emphasizing Saudi Arabia as a country for film-making.
Honorees and their Speeches
German actress Diane Kruger, Indian superstar Ranveer Singh, and Saudi actor-writer Abdullah Al-Sadhan were given honoree awards at the Red Sea International Film Festival ceremony. Kruger, advocating for female storytelling, expressed her hope that her honoree award from the Red Sea International Film Festival would empower girls to share their narratives.
Ranveer Singh shared his admiration as he received his honoree award from Hollywood's Sharon Stone, saying “I wasn’t expecting to be receiving the award in your presence and to be on the same stage as you. Your kind and generous words about me will be etched in my memory forever. I have been watching you as a performer as a child and I will cherish this award forever.”
Singh also mentions Johnny Depp saying he inspires him to be an actor, and that he learns so much from his crafts. Lastly, Singh light-heartedly joked about the audio-visual presentation of his work at the Red Sea International Film Festival, where he was seen shirtless with his gorgeous co-stars. “I promise you, filmmakers, that I have got more depth and gravitas than what was shown in that AV,” said Singh pointing to the screen behind him.
