A member of the club Seema Ahmed said about the project "This project is very dear to us as Rotarians since it not only complies with the spirit of giving during Ramadan but also fulfils Rotary International's objective to protect the environment. Rotary Club of Adliya is aiming to give back to the elderly communities in the Kingdom, as the elderly who are in need, can be a neglected part of society."
Optica will be collecting and cleaning eyeglasses as well as providing eye tests for elderly people in need. Dar UCO, an elderly daycare centre, will be collaborating with similar centres to provide names of 300 eligible recipients of donated glasses.
During Ramadan, people can drop eyeglasses they no longer use in donation boxes in Seef Mall (Manama, Muharraq, and Isa Town) and Al Liwan (Hamala).
