The edict was issued following the Cabinet's approval of the proposal for the flexible working hours system for employees working in ministries and government agencies.
The Bureau hopes to implement unified and fair arriving and departure rules for employees working in the public sector in order to improve employees' productivity and create a comfortable working environment for them.
The Bureau has provided instructions that the necessary measures to implement the flexible working hours system should be taken in a way to allow decision-makers within the government entities to integrate the attendance and departure rules of the system in an accurate manner.
Al Zayed explained that government agencies should instruct employees to conform to specified working hours, while efficiently providing government services to the public.
The President of the Bureau explained that the regular working system includes 36 hours weekly, from 7 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. from Sunday to Wednesday and from 7 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Thursday.
The official working hours for the extended working hour system, including 40 hours weekly, start from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. from Sunday to Thursday.
The president assured that the application of the flexible working system shall not exceed three flexible hours as a maximum.
