A former adviser from the Obama administration was arrested and now faces hate crime charges after an incident at a Manhattan halal cart.

Stuart Seldowitz, who resides nearby, allegedly harassed the vendor about his Egyptian roots and Islamic faith, captured in multiple videos.

Seldowitz was subsequently fired from Gotham Government Relations. NYPD initiated a hate crime investigation, resulting in Seldowitz's arrest on charges including aggravated harassment of race or religion and stalking as a hate crime.

All charges are misdemeanors. Seldowitz, silent to reporters, was taken into custody, while the cart's owner, Mohammed Hussein, resumed work after filing a complaint.

The cart, situated at Second Avenue and East 83rd Street, witnessed several contentious incidents amid the Middle East conflict in the past two weeks.
