Inspirational Bahraini Women
Every year, the 8th of March is celebrated as International Women's Day. In honor of this day, we will celebrate a few of the most successful women in Bahrain in the fields of business, sports, and the arts, whose achievements have inspired and empowered numerous other women in the country.
Here is a list of some influential and inspirational Bahraini women:
Mona Yousuf Almoayyed

Almoayyed is a prominent businesswoman and public figure. She is the Managing Director of Y.K. Almoayyed & Sons. Almoayyed is also chairwoman and head of the Audit Committee for Ebdaa Bank and she is a board member of the Arab International Women’s Forum. former head of the Bahrain Businesswomen’s Society, established in 2000 to encourage Bahraini women participation in the economy. Recently she was named among five Bahrainis in Forbes Middle East’s Top Businesswomen 2023 List. Almoayyed holds a BA in Business Administration from the University of Westminster in the UK.
Tala Bashmi
Tala Bashmi is one talented and accomplished chef and restaurateur. Bashmi was made the best female chef in the Middle East and North Africa region in 2021. In 2017, she took over the helm at Fusions restaurant, at the Gulf Hotel Bahrain, where she makes modern interpretations of Bahraini dishes. The name of the restaurant was later changed to Fusions by Tala in 2020, and has recently been named as the 3rd best restaurant in the region at Mena's 50 Best Restaurants awards for 2023.
Bashmi also secured the 63rd spot amongst the world's top 100 chefs in 2023.
Fatema Nedham
Bahrain-born Paralympic athlete Fatema Nedham is Bahrain's first female Paralympian to take home a medal at the Summer Paralympics. Fatema, who was born without legs and has three missing fingers on each hand, started competing in athletics in 2000.
H.H. Shaikha Jawaher Al Khalifa
Talented Bahraini royal H.H. Shaikha Jawaher Al Khalifa is the epitome of entrepreneurial courage and humanitarian values. She chose to change the world at large through her numerous projects, creating chances for all, men and women. In addition to bringing together multiple startups from other countries, Shaikha Jawaher Al Khalifa is the present founder and chairperson of Green Aventurine Holding. She continues to encourage young girls throughout the world with her entrepreneurial endeavors in a variety of industries while serving on the executive team of the European Women's Association.
Manal Fakhrawi
Manal Fakhrawi is the first and only woman from Bahrain to have the status of International Equestrian. Her accomplishments in the equestrian sport are ground-breaking in the kingdom's history of racing. She is breaking barriers for women in athletics in the country.
Fatima Abdul Raheem
Actress Fatima Abdul Raheem hails from Bahrain. In 1989, Raheem started her career in youth theater. Since then, she has appeared in a number of plays, movies, and serials. Before moving into more important roles, she continued to participate in a number of regional and Gulf projects, notably after making an appearance in the television series The Pain of Yearning (2004). She got the Best Actress Award for a supporting part at the 10th Gulf Theater Festival for her performance in the play Noura. She also received a certificate of distinction for best actress from the Dubai Film Festival for her work in the Bahraini film Marimi.
