The UAE's Ministry of Health and Prevention has announced that it has approved the Russian COVID-19 vaccine Sputnik V for emergency use.
The UAE has hosted phase three clinical trials for the vaccine, which was developed by the Gamaleya Research Institute and the Russian Ministry of Health.

According to WAM "Study results have demonstrated the effectiveness of the vaccine in triggering a strong antibody response against the virus, its safety for use, and its compliance with international safety and effectiveness standards,".
Sputnik V is the third Covid-19 vaccine to be approved for use in the Emirates after Sinopharm and Pfizer-BioNTech.
