Bahrain Considers Cancellation of National Day Celebrations

Bahrain is deliberating the possible cancellation of its National and Martyr Days celebrations next month, with the funds allocated for these events being redirected to the Royal Humanitarian Foundation (RHF). This decision comes after an urgent proposal put forward by five Members of Parliament (MPs), led by Bader Al Tamimi, received unanimous approval, subsequently being referred to the Cabinet.

While this move is under consideration, the ongoing conflict in Gaza will take center stage during a "special" extraordinary parliamentary session scheduled for tomorrow. Eleven MPs, led by the Chairman of the Palestinian Support Committee and Vice-Chairman of the Public Utilities and Environment Affairs Committee, Mohammed Al Bulooshi, have submitted the request for this session.

Other unanimously approved proposals include doubling the subsidized electricity monthly usage per Bahraini household during the summer, forming joint teams to tackle heavy rainfall-related issues, updating the government suggestions and complaints platform, reopening the East Riffa Health Centre, and enforcing Bahrainisation quotas for companies during commercial registration renewals. A joint committee between the Labor Ministry and Tamkeen has also been proposed to ensure that Bahrainis on support lists receive their full wages.
