Four expats were arrested after being caught with 364 grams of illegally harvested crabs. The Coast Guard intercepted them in a restricted area and, upon searching their boat, discovered the illegal catch. Now, they’re facing legal action as the Public Prosecution investigates the case.

The authorities have seized two boats and the fishing equipment used in the illegal operation. Interestingly, the confiscated crabs will be auctioned off, with the proceeds going to the court’s treasury. This isn’t the first time Bahrain has taken firm action against illegal fishing. Back in October 2024, another group of expats was arrested for using unauthorized shrimp-catching methods. Their case resulted in serious legal consequences, including the possibility of deportation.
