Bahrain Implements Import Ban on 17 Predatory Animals and 4 Dog Breeds

Bahrain's Ministry of Municipality Affairs and Agriculture implemented an import ban on 17 species of predatory animals and 4 dog breeds.

The import ban can be ruled out if the person has a special permit to acquire these animals for zoos, circuses, and research centers.

The import ban on these animals is Decision No. 100 for 2023.

The 17 predatory animals that have been included in this ban are lions, tigers, leopards, jaguars, foxes, hyenas, crocodiles, wolves, green monkeys, baboons, gorillas, chimpanzees, various spider species, snakes, and other animals.

The list also includes some species of bears.

If the species are not native to the area, they are still included on the list.

The dog breeds that have been banned include Staffordshire terriers, Tossa dogs, Presa Canario, mastiffs, Pit Bulls, and hybrids involving these breeds.

The decision has been implemented to ensure the safety of Bahrain's citizens and the country's environment.

The decision will also help regulate animal imports and create more responsible ownership practices.
