Bahrain Reviews Citizenship; Family Members May Be Affected

The Nationality, Passports, and Residence Affairs (NPRA) in Bahrain is scrutinizing citizenship cases granted since 2010. This review ensures all citizenships were obtained with accurate data and legitimate documents.

If any are found to have been acquired through false information or used against Bahrain's interests, legal action will be taken, potentially affecting family members who gained citizenship through dependency.

However, the NPRA clarified that children of Bahraini women married to foreigners and foreign women married to Bahraini men are excluded from this review, in accordance with the Bahraini Nationality Law of 1963 and its amendments.

The NPRA reiterated that Bahraini citizenship is a privilege reserved for those who demonstrate loyalty, respect for the country’s laws, and commitment to its security and social harmony.
