Biden Endorses Kamala Harris to Run for Office in His Place

President Biden announced on Sunday that he is withdrawing from the 2024 presidential campaign, following weeks of pressure from fellow Democrats that intensified after his widely criticized debate performance in late June.

“I believe it is in the best interest of my party and the country for me to stand down," Biden stated in a message posted on X. He mentioned that he will address the nation later this week, emphasizing his commitment to complete the remaining three months of his term.

In a subsequent post, Biden endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris as the Democratic nominee for president.

"Democrats — it’s time to come together and beat Trump," he wrote. "Let’s do this."

Biden’s exit from the race comes just weeks before the Democratic National Convention, scheduled to begin on August 19 in Chicago. This development raises significant questions about his replacement, the selection process, and whether the new candidate will have a better chance of defeating former President Donald Trump than the 81-year-old Biden.
