Dubai Marathon Postponed Due to Increasing Demand for World Cup Hotels

The marathon championship was scheduled to start up again after a break brought on the pandemic limitations.

Due to the high demand for hotel rooms and flights in Dubai as a result of the Qatar World Cup, this year's Dubai Marathon has been postponed.

The most prestigious running event in Dubai will now take place on Sunday, February 12, 2023, instead of its original date of December 2022. This came about as a result of organizers learning that there was a limited quantity of hotel rooms due to rising demand for the FIFA World Cup in Qatar in 2022.

For the first time since the Covid-19 pandemic, the marathon will take place, and more than 30,000 participants from more than 100 countries are anticipated.

Event Director Peter Connerton said, "As always, we kept an eye on the situation regarding flights and lodging not only for the elite athletes coming to compete but also for marathon tourists, which are a marathon and 10km runners from abroad who enjoy coming to Dubai to test themselves on a flat, quick course.

"Our first Dubai Marathon should be a celebration of running, and we hope to encourage athletes to come and enjoy everything the city has to offer," said the race organizers.

We are convinced that by extending the date to February, our rivals from abroad will be able to take advantage of improved flight and accommodation alternatives, both in terms of variety and pricing. The new date will also enable us to offer the same to our staff of international event authorities, media personnel, and spectators, according to Connerton.

The Dubai Marathon welcomes runners from more than 145 different countries and consistently produces some of the best performances in the sport. It was recently ranked third among all marathons worldwide by World Athletics. 24 of the top 100 fastest male times and 18 of the top 100 fastest female times in history were produced during the 2020 Dubai Marathon.

As usual, there will be three divisions for the marathon: the full marathon, the 10 km run, and the 4 km fun run.

Dubai gets ready for the World Cup in Qatar with a new hotel with a football motif

For visitors to the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup, Dubai will open its first hotel with a football theme in early November, according to the UAE's The National News.

Dubai's NH Supporters traveling between the Emirates and Doha during the tournament are staying at The Palm, which is situated among some of the nation's most well-known tourist attractions.

As the first Middle Eastern country to host the World Cup, Qatar is expecting at least 1.5 million fans to visit the Gulf nation. To date, at least 1.8 million World Cup tickets have been sold globally.

The UAE media outlet claims that there is a sizable and recent increase in demand for hotel rooms in Abu Dhabi. There are 533 rooms at the NH Dubai The Palm, and guests may watch the game in the sports bar.
