Face Up to BD1,000 Fine If You Violate This Outdoor Work Ban

Bahrain is set to enforce a two-month ban on outdoor work during midday hours, beginning July 1, 2024. The initiative, aimed at safeguarding worker health and boosting productivity, prohibits outdoor labor from 12 PM to 4 PM.

Safety Measures in Place

Labour Minister Jameel bin Mohammed Ali Humaidan emphasized that the ban is crucial to preventing heat-related health issues and accidents during the hottest part of the day. The measure underscores Bahrain’s commitment to safe working conditions and adherence to international labor standards.

Educational Efforts

Humaidan highlighted the importance of educating workers about the risks associated with high temperatures. Training programs will focus on first aid and technical solutions to minimize heat exposure, ensuring workers are well-prepared for the challenging conditions.

Penalties for Violation

According to Article 192 of Law 36 of 2012, violating the midday outdoor work ban can lead to penalties including up to three months in jail or fines ranging from BD500 to BD1000. The strict enforcement aims to enforce compliance and prioritize worker safety across Bahrain.
