Feeding Dogs Raw Meat Might Have a Negative Impact on DOGS’ OWNERS!

Want to own a pet? Maybe a dog? Do you already own a dog? Well, do you usually think about what you should and shouldn’t feed your dog? You have to from now on! Not only for the sake of your furry friend but for your health as well!

A new study conducted in Bristol, UK shows that feeding dogs raw meat can lead to health problems for their owners, as this type of food can contain antibiotic-resistant bacteria, which can lead to severe and potentially fatal infections.

Raw Meat Is No Longer an Energy Source for Pets

Most people think that raw meat may be more nutritious for pets, especially as pet food companies promote it as a more "natural" pet food, but scientists have found that feeding your pet raw meat is more likely to excrete life-threatening strains of E. coli in their feces.

What Is Escherichia Coli?

It is a widespread bacterium that is found in the intestines of all humans and animals, but it is a common cause of many diseases including urinary tract infections and can cause serious illnesses, including sepsis if it spreads to other parts of the body.

We can reduce the circulation of antibiotic-resistant Escherichia coli and other critically important bacteria by several measures including stopping feeding dogs raw meat.

The Effect of Feeding Dogs Raw Meat on Humans

Surprisingly, these bacteria not only affect pets but can be transmitted from dogs to their owners through daily interactions. To prove this, an analysis of 223 puppies and 600 adult dogs was conducted to analyze the link between eating raw meat and excretion of drug-resistant Escherichia coli, and the results showed that dogs fed raw meat are more likely to carry bacteria resistant to the most important antibiotics.

In light of this, we recall last year’s description by a group of Portuguese scientists of raw dog food as an “international danger to public health,” and estimates predict that “antibiotic-resistant germs” will kill 10 million people annually by 2050. The World Health Organization (WHO) describes the problem as "one of the greatest public health threats facing humanity".

Take care of your dog and your health the next time you put food for your pet!
