First Bahraini-Built Satellite Has Reached 40% Completion

Forty percent of the work on the first fully Bahraini-built satellite project, named Al Munther, has been completed, the National Space Science Agency (NSSA) said.

The launch of the satellite is expected to take place by the end of 2023.

Al Munther will provide space data on Bahrain, which will be analysed using a line-up of Bahraini innovations that will part of the satellite's load.

Furthermore, Al Munther will capture pictures of Bahrain and its regional waters and it will collect data that will be input into various sectors.

It will be the first of its kind in the Middle East that employs artificial intelligence algorithms in analyzing satellite images.

This project follows the success of the launch of the UAE-Bahraini nanosatellite, Light-1, which launched successfully into orbit from International Space Station in February 2022.
