In a move that could bring relief to grieving Bahraini families, a parliamentary proposal is calling for unpaid utility bills to be scrapped if the family’s head passes away. Spearheaded by MP Khalid Bu Onk and five other lawmakers, the initiative aims to end what they describe as an "inhumane" practice of forcing widows and children to shoulder debts left behind by their deceased breadwinners.

He called for the introduction of a special fund to cover such bills, likening it to the Housing Ministry’s existing system that waives remaining payments upon the breadwinner’s death.
