Having served as a foreign minister for over 40 years from 1963 to 1991 and from 1992 to 2003 and also ruling the oil-rich Gulf Arab state since 2006, the emir has acted as a mediator in regional disputes and also been a visionary for Kuwait, which has a population of 4.8 million and is the world’s sixth-largest known oil reserves, he passed away at 91 as reported by Kuwait TV today.

After completing a successful surgery on July 18, the Emir had been flown to the United States of America on July 23 to complete the required medical treatment. With details unknown regarding the surgery on August 18, there was a medical “setback”.
