'My Lady Jane' Gets Cancelled Despite Popular First Season

Amazon Prime has cancelled the popular historical comedy drama 'My Lady Jane' despite the popularity of the show's first season.

The eight-episode series was released on the streaming service on Jun. 27 and was trending on social media. It has a promising cast and plot, but it could not draw a larger audience.

Although, the series was loved by many netizens, it was not able to make it to Nielsen's Top 10 streaming lists. The first season has an open-ended hinting that the story was far from over, but the show still got cancelled.

Social media users did not hide their disappointment after hearing the news, especially after many netizens swooned over the main leads, Jane and Guildford's chemistry.

One social media user wrote, "A gripping, fun story, a cast with loads of chemistry, specifically Jane and Guildford. It was passionate, intense, and so well done. I cannot believe this is happening. This show was different in the best way, and it is so unfortunate we won’t be able to see how the adventure ends."

The series is based on a novel written by Cynthia Hand, Brodi Ashton, and Jodi Meadows and it is set in sixteenth-century England where humans and shapeshifters, Ethians, exist. Jane starts empathizing with Ethians, but this worries the people in power and they plan to behead her.

Emily Bader played Jane and Edward Bluemel played Guildford in the series. The rest of the cast includes Rob Brydon, Jordan Peters, Kate O'Flynn, Abbie Hern, Henry Ashton, Dominic Cooper, and Jim Broadbent.
