Proposal to Have Min. Salary for Driving Licence Rejected

The Bahraini government recently rejected a plan, proposing that there be a minimum salary requirement for obtaining a driver's licence.

The minimum salary requirement proposed was BD500, but the rejection of the proposal has brought relief to many expats in Bahrain.

A similar proposal was rejected in 2014 by the government, which has cited that the current regulations are sufficient for expats to acquire a driver's licence.

The drivers' licence for expats is valid for five years and there was also a proposal to link expats' driver's licence validity with that of the residence permit in 2023, but it was not considered for approval by the authorities.

With the government's decision to reject the recent proposal, expats can easily obtain their driver's licence.
