Public Transport in Bahrain Hits 945,199 Passengers

In September 2024, Bahrain's public bus system reached a significant milestone, with 945,199 passengers using the buses. This brings the total number of riders to over 98 million since 2015, highlighting the effectiveness of the public transport initiative.

Expanding the Bus Fleet

The bus service operates a fleet of 140 buses across 26 routes, making more than 600 stops daily. Designed with inclusivity in mind, the buses are equipped with ramps and low floors to accommodate passengers with special needs. They also feature priority seating for women, families, the elderly, and wheelchair users, ensuring that everyone can travel comfortably.

Improved Features and Regular Inspections

To enhance the travel experience, Bahrain's public buses come with free Wi-Fi and information screens that keep passengers updated on routes and schedules. The Ministry of Transport and Telecommunications conducts regular route assessments to optimize the service.

In September alone, the Ministry issued 2,962 operational cards, renewed 34 licenses, and granted 5 new licenses. Additionally, 24 inspections were carried out to ensure the buses are running smoothly and safely.

Commitment to Public Transport

Bahrain's commitment to improving public transport is clear, as they strive to make bus travel more efficient and accessible for everyone. As the number of riders continues to grow, the focus remains on enhancing services and facilities to meet the needs of all passengers.
