Bahrain Airport Sees 4.6 Million Passengers in H1 2024

Bahrain’s Gulf Air is soaring to new heights! In the first half of 2024, the airline experienced an impressive 8.5% rise in passenger numbers, reaching 3.1 million.

Gulf Air Group and Bahrain Airport Company’s latest H1 2024 results show this growth goes beyond just more passengers; it includes increased travel volume and a significant cargo boost.

With capacity up to over 4.3 million, passenger load factors climbing to 77.9%, and cargo traffic rising by 3.5% to 41,000 tonnes, Gulf Air is on a notable upward trajectory. This surge is fueled by new routes, expanding its Asia-Pacific and European network by adding Guangzhou and Shanghai in China, and Munich in Germany to its destinations. Additionally, Gulf Air resumed flights to Baghdad and Najaf in Iraq, increased frequencies to Doha, Muscat, Manchester, Milan, and Rome, and introduced new seasonal hotspots like AlUla in Saudi Arabia, Geneva in Switzerland, and Rhodes in Greece.

Bahrain International Airport is not just riding the wave but creating it. With a 13.2% increase in passenger volume, the airport welcomed 4.6 million travelers in the first half of 2024. The Bahrain Airport Company (BAC) also reported a 9.4% hike in air traffic movements, totaling over 48,000 flights. Cargo operations saw a solid 7.19% increase, reaching 189,799 tonnes compared to H1 2023.

Adding to the excitement, Pakistan’s Fly Jinnah started flights from Islamabad to Bahrain in July, further boosting connectivity and travel options.
