Bahrain Sends First Relief Aid Shipment to Quake-Hit Turkey and Syria

Bahrain dispatched on Tuesday, February 14th, the first shipment of relief aid to the earthquake-hit people in Turkey and Syria.

The shipment was carried under the patronage of His Majesty the King's Representative for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs, His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, in compliance with the royal directives.

The shipment contained the necessary medical, relief, and food materials to cater to the basic needs of those affected by the quake.

It was prepared in cooperation with the Foreign Affairs Ministry, the Health Ministry, and the Bahrain Defence Force.

HH Shaikh Nasser said that the move came within Bahrain's efforts to strengthen global solidarity, based on the fraternal and humanitarian bonds among all peoples.

He also expressed Bahrain's solidarity with Turkey and Syria in facing the humanitarian crisis resulting from the deadly earthquake that struck the two countries on Monday, February 6th.

A 7.8 magnitude earthquake hit Southeast Turkey and Northern Syria last week, leaving over 35,000 people dead in both countries.

This earthquake, which left thousands of people without homes, is considered one of the most powerful quakes in the region in recent years.
