Emirates Marks 25 Years Connecting Bahrain Globally

This year, Emirates is celebrating a major milestone: 25 years of exceptional service to the Kingdom of Bahrain. Since its first flight landed on January 25, 2000, the airline has played a crucial role in fostering trade and offering passengers seamless access to over 140 global destinations. Let’s take a look at how Emirates has grown its operations and partnerships over the years, as well as the recent celebrations marking this special occasion.

A Milestone Celebration

To commemorate its 25 years in Bahrain, Emirates hosted a memorable dinner for distinguished government officials, VIPs, and key figures in the travel industry. The gathering was a tribute to the airline’s success and ongoing partnership with the Kingdom. Guests included prominent individuals like HE Dr Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Bahrain’s Minister of Transportation & Telecommunications, and Nabil Sultan, Emirates’ Executive Vice President Passenger Sales and Country Management.

During the event, the airline also took the opportunity to honor its longest-serving employees in Bahrain, including Khalil Attiya, Emirates’ Airport Services Manager in Bahrain, and Waheed Abu Alfath Ali, the Cargo Manager. Their contributions have played a key role in the airline’s success in the region.

A Look Back at 25 Years of Growth

Emirates’ journey to Bahrain began with its inaugural flight on January 25, 2000, when a Boeing 777-200 landed in the Kingdom. Since then, Emirates has transported over 7.86 million passengers between Bahrain and its global destinations, including cities like Manila, London, Kuala Lumpur, Chennai, and Dhaka.

The airline has seen remarkable growth over the past 25 years. It started with double-daily flights and a mixed fleet of Airbus A300, A310, and A330 aircraft. Today, Emirates operates 22 weekly flights using a modern fleet of Airbus A350s and Boeing 777s, offering nearly 7,000 seats each way. The airline has even deployed the iconic Emirates A380 during peak times to meet high demand, especially during National Day celebrations and major events like the Bahrain International Airshow.

A Commitment to Excellence

To ensure the best possible experience for its passengers, Emirates has recently upgraded its service with the introduction of the Airbus A350 on two of its daily flights from Bahrain. This aircraft offers next-generation features across all cabin classes, providing passengers with an even more luxurious travel experience.

Emirates continues to focus on delivering top-notch onboard products and services, staying true to its “Fly Better” promise. Nabil Sultan, Executive Vice President Passenger Sales and Country Management, highlighted this commitment, expressing gratitude to the airline’s partners and customers in Bahrain.

Expanding Partnerships for Future Growth

In recent years, Emirates has strengthened its relationships in Bahrain to further enhance connectivity. In 2022, the airline entered a codeshare agreement with Bahrain’s national carrier, Gulf Air, offering passengers even more travel options and access to a wider network of destinations. Emirates has also partnered with the Bahrain Tourism and Exhibition Authority to help promote the Kingdom’s diverse attractions and support its growing tourism industry.
