Filipino Groups in Bahrain Honored for Volunteer Works

In a ceremony held at Diwan, Manama, two Filipino groups were honored for their exceptional volunteer work as part of the Capital Governorate Volunteering Pass 2024. The event, attended by government officials, community leaders, and volunteers, highlighted the dedication of these organizations to community service and leadership.

Highlights of Good Cause Bahrain’s Contributions

Good Cause Bahrain, led by Antonette Guese-Avila, received praise for its efforts in supporting underprivileged citizens, particularly labor camp residents facing tough conditions. The organization has been actively involved in clean-up drives and mental health awareness campaigns, working closely with local authorities.

PBCS’s Impact on Health Advocacy

The Philippine Bahrain Caregivers Society (PBCS), under President Maria Perez Carmona, was recognized for its long-standing commitment to health advocacy and community support. Yvonne Villamor, the group’s adviser, noted that PBCS’s collaboration with the Capital Governorate on the World Health Organization’s healthy city project was a key factor in their recognition. The group’s activities include health screenings, education, food distribution, and environmental clean-up efforts.

Villamor expressed gratitude for the award, stating it motivates the group to continue their work and strengthen their community service efforts.
