Forbes Middle East Reveals Top 100 Healthcare Leaders 2023 List

Forbes Middle East has revealed its annual list of the region’s Top 100 Healthcare Leaders for 2023, recognizing the top professionals in the healthcare ecosystem.

Shaista Asif, Cofounder and Group COO of UAE-based PureHealth Group topped the Forbes Middle East list, which has been released for the second consecutive year and has 101 entries.

Said Darwazah, Executive Chairman and CEO of Jordan’s Hikma Pharmaceuticals, and Hanan Mohamed Al Kuwari, Managing Director of the Hamad Medical Corporation in Qatar, rounded up the top three spots.

Al Kuwari had also featured in Forbes Middle East’s Most Powerful 100 Businesswomen, which was released in February 2023.

The list was dominated by UAE-based healthcare leaders with 44 entries, followed by Saudi Arabia with 26 and Egypt with eight entries. Leaders in the hospital category dominated the Top 100 Healthcare Leaders with 38 entries, followed by pharmaceutical companies with 36 entries.

Forbes Middle East’s Top 10 Healthcare Leaders for 2023:

  1. Shaista Asif: Cofounder and Group COO of PureHealth Group – UAE.
  2. Said Darwazah: Executive Chairman and CEO of Hikma Pharmaceuticals – Jordan.
  3. Hanan Mohamed Al Kuwari: Managing Director of the Hamad Medical Corporation – Qatar.
  4. Sulaiman Al Habib: Founder and Chairman of Dr. Sulaiman Al Habib Medical Services Group (HMG) – Saudi Arabia.
  5. Nasser Sultan Al-Subaie: CEO and Vice Chairman of Mouwasat Medical Services Company – Saudi Arabia.
  6. Hasan Jasem Al Nowais: CEO of Mubadala Health – UAE.
  7. Ayman Taher: Group Chairman of Tamer Group – Saudi Arabia.
  8. Makarem Sobhi Batarjee: President and Vice Chairman of Saudi German Health (SGH) – Saudi Arabia.
  9. Majid Al Fayyadh: CEO of King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Centre (KFSH&RC).
  10. Shamsheer Vayalil: Founder and Chairman of Burjeel Holdings – UAE.

Forbes Middle East’s criteria for the ranking was to assess the size of the business—including revenues, assets, and facilities—diversity of operations, ownership of assets, and the experience, impact, and achievements of the individual.
