Aloo Tikki are crisp and soft fried potato patties that make a scrumptious snack for iftar. Aloo Tikki are a wholesome snack that are made of mashed potatoes mixed with spices, herbs, and cornstarch. They are very popular in the Indian subcontinent and they are eaten with chutney.

Aloo Tikki Ingredients

3 potatoes, boiled and mashed
1 chilli, finely chopped
1 tsp ginger-garlic paste
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
1/2 tsp red chilli powder
1/2 tsp cumin powder
1 tsp dry mango powder
1 tsp chaat masala
1/2 tsp salt
2 tbsp mint leaves, finely chopped
2 tbsp coriander leaves, finely chopped
2 tbsp corn flour

  1. Mix Potatoes With Spices

    In a large bowl, mix potatoes with chilli, ginger-garlic paste, turmeric powder, chilli powder, cumin powder, mango powder, chaat masala, and salt. Mix properly so that the spices are nicely blended with the potatoes.
  2. Add Fresh Leaves

    Add chopped coriander and mint leaves to the potatoes and mix properly.
  3. Make Patties

    Mix cornflour with the potatoes so that they will bind together to form a proper dough. Mix properly until a nice dough is formed. Grease hands with oil and make tikki or patties of the dough.
  4. Fry the Tikki

    Shallow fry the patties or tikki until golden brown. Remove from heat and serve with green chutney or tamarind sauce.
